Some Magazine Work

In my foundation year at London College of Fashion (Fashion Portfolio) we were made to complete different projects including Textiles, photography, photoshop work and pattern cutting. One of the most arduos tasks was making a magazine, filling 100 pages full of articles, interviews, mock-campaigns etc.

I did a little article on Soho which went quite well but were I really came into my element was when I came up with the idea of a photoshoot based around our magazine title "Bound". We got into the studio all three of us 2 models and the photographer Lissete.

I brought loads of belts that collected from people at halls but in the end we found a box full of creme belts in the sewing room 30mins before the photoshoot. I bought some black stretch tights from Primark and a bag of other incongrous elements.

This is what we came up with:

Model Omogbolahan Kolap-Ajala
Photographer: Lisette Norrby
Assistant: Gordan Darling
Make-up Sebastien Kwok

JUUN.J

I've recently seen a designers work coming across all these websites and blogs I've been on. Not sure whether it a new or established label but there menswear is really innovative and it just goes to show that you can still push the boundaries in a field as confined as menswear.

Nicholas Kirkwood

In all honesty women are the one who got me into fashion in the first place so it's only right that I let everyone know the type of design that got me from watching bikini clad models from Brazil FashionWeek to studying a Menswear Degree.

Nicholas Kirkwood has created catwalk shoes for designer including Ghost, John Rocha, Erdem, Rodarte and Pollini and was a finalist for the inaugural BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund Award in 2010.

Rejecting ornamental decoration in favor of sculptural glamour, Corwainer’s graduate Nicholas Kirkwood designs his shoes for "women with presence and a bit of rock'n'roll". Geometric forms and strong, clean lines are shaped using luxe satin, suede, lizard and snakeskin.

Alchemia Mysteria

Discovered another inspirational Menswear Line yesterday thanks to blogger. More specifically to www.lottesheedy.blogspot.com

There website is actually very eery, especially the music staright from the graveyard, but this only helps to illustrate the mood of the label as well as there collections.

I have no idea how they achieved some of those techniques though im aure to look it up! What I like most about this label is that they have such a strong aesthetic and consistency. One collection fows into the next seamlessly I'll be sure to keep a look out for them...

London Fashion Week, New Talent

It's only the first day of London Fashion Week but I believe in leading from the front and so I'm going to jump in head first and ask "Where's all the budding young talent from CSM et al. that's what I love to see. If i remember correctly last year there was a smorgasbord (typical journalist word) of fresh talent. Particularly from one of the most highly anticipated graduate shows in the world Central Saint Martins.

Here's a look at the designers and collections that replaced the Martin Luther King wallpaper on my Nokia.

Marie Hill

Graduated in 2009 (CSM)

Dean Quinn

Orshell Reid

Showed back in 2009 at the On/Off as part of LFW. Also his trousers were worn by lady Gaga at the beginning of the couture section for her appearance on Wetten Dass, a German TV programme filmed in my mother's home town.

What more could you wont?

Other Notable Designers include:

Holly Lee-Fox & Alexander Ruth and Kye

Swagger, Kanye West

I recommend listening to The New Boyz - So Dope whilst reading this post. Basically a friend of mine... oh sorry got lost. An inspiration of mine. His name is Kanye Omari (West) as he states in Hey Mama. He doesn't give one or two dam's about what isn't in his heart and so i have much respect. Not to mention the swagger's on ICE...
